Nurse Oncologist Medical Surgical Unit PRN Opportunity

Job SummaryWe are currently seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our inpatient oncology medical surgical unit at Johnston-Willis Hospital. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to patients from diagnosis through every stage of treatment.
- You will assess patients' conditions during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Closely collaborate with oncology-certified nurses and cancer experts from the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute to develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
In addition to delivering exceptional patient care, you will also:
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, ensuring thorough and timely documentation of care administration in patients' medical records.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patients for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in case of unintended responses.
- Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
- A competitive salary range of $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience.

Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or Multistate Compact License.
- Minimum one year of nursing experience required; one year of oncology medical surgical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification required.
