About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team at ASSA ABLOY Americas. As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating daily steel requirements for our facility, managing and building relationships with assigned suppliers, and procuring materials, supplies, and services required to support daily production requirements and operations of the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and build the relationship and performance of assigned suppliers.
  • Procure materials, supplies, and services required to support daily production requirements and operations of the facility.
  • Initiate RFQs, issue purchase orders, and perform necessary follow-up to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Utilize tools/technology to streamline processes and create a fair yet competitive sourcing process.
  • Work with internal customers to develop processes that improve material and supply availability.
  • Collect and analyze data to draw conclusions about supplier performance, trends, and opportunities to leverage spend across the organization.
  • Participate with other ASSA ABLOY entities on appropriate supply councils and work toward optimal leveraging of spend.
  • Troubleshoot invoice discrepancies and perform root cause analysis to reduce number of invoice/pricing errors.
  • Utilize various techniques and practices to identify and implement cost savings initiatives; develop accountability with suppliers for year-over-year results.
  • Conduct periodic review of supplier performance and action item follow-up
  • Monitor Key Performance Metrics and improve performance.
  • Identify new suppliers as well as develop new and existing suppliers.
  • Assist with assigned reporting and other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Degree in Business or related area preferred.
  • CPM or APICS certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, buying, or procurement.
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing/production environment is highly desirable.
  • Previous working knowledge of MRP systems.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint with advanced skills in Excel (Pivot Tables, Formulas, etc.)
  • Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiating skills.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Previous experience performing analytical and strategic cost reduction activities.
