Agricultural Chemicals Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Agricultural Chemicals Specialist to join our team at Heartland Co-op. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for applying agricultural chemicals and fertilizers in a timely, effective, and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities- Read and understand label information from manufacturers and distributors of pesticides, fertilizers, and other products containing hazardous chemicals.
- Evaluate label information to determine that directions for use are followed during application.
- Apply products in a timely, effective, and accurate manner.
- Follow guidelines for recording information on weather conditions, the product used, field conditions, and rates.
- Maintain equipment to ensure safe and accurate application.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain records to document activities.
- During non-application seasons, perform maintenance on the warehouse, location grounds, and equipment.
- Commercial Chemical Applicators License (1A,1B,1C) is required.
- Maintain a valid Class C Commercial Drivers License with proper endorsements and commercial insurability at all times.
- A valid DOT physical is also required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and work with vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Depth perception. Employees are exposed to long seasonal hours.
PCP LevelExerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
