Abstractor IX

Join the State of Hawaii's team as an Abstractor IX, a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of land title records.

The Abstractor IX serves as the head of a document review section in Land Court registration, examining conveyancing instruments and other documents to issue Certificates of Title and memoranda of encumbrances. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and leadership abilities.

• Examine conveyancing instruments and other documents to determine and evidence title to real property
• Issue Certificates of Title and memoranda of encumbrances
• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in preparing, reviewing, or extracting information from legal documents and/or records dealing with real property ownership or transactions
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in examining and analyzing real property ownership records and documents to determine and evidence title to real property
• At least one year of Specialized Experience above must be comparable to the Abstractor VI level
• Two (2) years of supervisory work experience, including planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others
