Job Title: Registered Nurse - PACU (Casual)

Join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals at St. Vincent Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). As a casual RN, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our perioperative services unit.

About the Role:

The Registered Nurse in the PACU is responsible for assessing human responses and planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individuals or families. You will work collaboratively with surgeons and anesthesia to provide specialized care for patients undergoing various surgeries, including robotics, orthopedics, cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, neurosurgical, and general surgeries.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership in a professional practice setting and contribute to building the team by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
  • Assign or delegate tasks based on the needs of the patient and skill level of the RN, LPN, or support staff.
  • Consider maintenance of a safe environment, patient condition, complexity of the intervention, and predictability of the outcome.
  • Provide peers with both verbal and written feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance.
  • Share knowledge and skills with peers and colleagues.
  • Willingly accept mistakes of self and others, creating a culture in which risk taking is not only safe but expected.
  • Participate on interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care or health services.
  • Promote patient safety initiatives and participate in department-specific quality initiatives.
  • Supervise, delegate, and evaluate assigned LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement a patient plan of care according to individual needs.
Qualifications:
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Current State of PA RN licensure or Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
  • CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in area of specialty
