About the Role

We are seeking a Precision Metalwork Technician to join our team at Wide Effect. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient welding of metal components.

Estimated Salary: $75,000 - $95,000 per year.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in welding and fitting, with experience working with open table fit-up and welding techniques. Safety consciousness and the ability to interpret welding instructions and structural drawings are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety First: Execute all tasks in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to established safety protocols and regulations.
  2. Reading and Comprehension: Understand and interpret welding instructions and structural drawings to ensure accurate assembly and welding of components.
  3. Quality Assurance: Verify the correct quantity and quality of welded parts, maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
  4. Precise Layout: Layout stitch welds, determining the locations of welds and weld sizes for welders to follow.
  5. Technical Proficiency: Work from drawings, patterns, fixtures, and specifications, ensuring precise alignment and fit-up of components.
  6. Torch Operation: Proficiently use fuel gas and plasma hand torches for fitting purposes, maintaining accuracy and consistency.
  7. Material Handling: Safely operate forklifts and cranes in compliance with standard operating procedures, safety regulations, and best practices to move materials.
  8. Team Collaboration: Assist in the welding of weldments, contributing to the successful completion of projects.
  9. Finishing Touch: Perform cleaning, assembly, and straightening operations as directed by Supervision, ensuring the components meet quality standards.
  10. Welding Expertise: May be required to perform various welding processes, including GMAW, Flux, Sub Arc, etc., demonstrating proficiency in these techniques.
  11. Quality Compliance: Adhere to all quality policies, specifications, and instructions, ensuring that the final product meets the required standards.
