Job Overview

Position Summary:

The role involves delivering both direct and indirect patient support under the supervision of healthcare providers (NP, PA, MD, or DO). The individual will execute elements of the care plan through the application of technical skills and procedures while also managing administrative tasks as required. Responsibilities are aligned with the mission of the medical facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with various treatments and procedures as authorized and overseen by a healthcare provider, adhering to state regulations. This may involve performing EKGs, documenting results, and alerting the provider to any changes in patient conditions.
  • Conduct routine blood collection procedures utilizing standard equipment such as vacutainer tubes, syringes, and butterfly needles.
  • Ensure a safe and hygienic work environment by preparing examination rooms for subsequent patients and following infection control protocols.
  • Manage patient check-ins, assist in gathering medical histories, verify patient information accuracy, and prepare medical records. May also support providers during examinations and other clinical activities.
  • Prepare, label, and store patient specimens in accordance with established protocols.
  • Perform clerical tasks, including answering phone calls, relaying messages, and providing information to patients.
  • Handle payment collections, maintain the cash drawer, prepare daily financial reports, and reconcile daily cash with patient records.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED with a minimum of one year of relevant clinical or customer service experience.

Skills and Competencies:

Familiarity with medical terminology is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with interpersonal abilities, are required. Basic understanding of computer systems and proficiency in tools such as Epic are advantageous.
