Grower Management:
- Negotiate contracts for various crops including Paprika, Carrots, and Rosemary.
- Plan and schedule planting timelines, acreage, and crop varieties.
- Regularly inspect fields and engage with growers regarding crop health.
- Manage pest control and ensure compliance with labeled products.
- Keep growers informed about industry developments.
- Coordinate spraying schedules and harvest timelines.
Production Oversight:
- Ensure the successful production of commercial seeds.
- Monitor market conditions and crop status.
- Prepare budgets for field production.
- Collaborate with procurement teams regarding product sourcing.
Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain safety standards on the farm.
- Oversee the procurement of all farming inputs, including equipment and chemicals.
- Manage land and water rights effectively.
Crop Management:
- Supervise the production of various crops including Paprika, Rosemary, and Carrots.
- Implement conservation practices for sustainable farming.
- Ensure proper crop rotation and planting schedules.
- Engage with consultants and maintain licensure as a private applicator.
Industry Engagement:
- Stay connected with the Chile industry and monitor market trends.
- Develop relationships with buyers, growers, and processors.
- Keep abreast of industry news and developments.
Collaboration with Breeding Teams:
- Work closely with breeding groups and consultants to optimize planting and harvesting processes.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in relevant fields or significant agricultural experience.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
- Experience in agricultural processing operations.
- Multilingual capabilities are advantageous.
- Familiarity with LEAN methodologies.
Equipment Proficiency:
- Ability to operate and maintain various types of farm machinery.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including dusty areas.
- Willingness to travel extensively to manage multiple farm locations.
