Job Summary

The Outreach Athletic Trainer is a key member of the Atrium Health Sports Medicine Team, responsible for providing medical coverage in high school outreach settings. This role requires a strong understanding of athletic training principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide athletic training services to high schools and community sporting events, ensuring departmental goals of community service are met.
  • Work collaboratively with the Sports Medicine Team to provide medical coverage and support at events.
  • Provide acute medical care to athletes during practices and sporting events, including emergency situations.
  • Conduct clinical evaluations, assessments, and treatments to athletes, including injury prevention and rehabilitation.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including goals and objectives, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with directing physicians to ensure optimal patient care and management.
  • Maintain accurate records of treatment logs, injury reports, and medical inventory management.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure emergency action plans are in place for each venue and communicate with school administrators, coaches, and athletes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer certification.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for a State of North Carolina License in Athletic Training within 30 days of hire.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification, including CPR and AED training within 30 days of hire.

Work Environment
  • Variable work hours, including nights and weekends.
  • High school athletic training rooms and outdoor athletic fields.
  • Ability to manage a stressful work environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Possible exposure to infections, contagious diseases, and patient elements.
