Job Overview

Position Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare meals in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, as well as our established policies and procedures, ensuring that high-quality food service is consistently delivered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review menus prior to food preparation.
  • Inspect special diet trays to ensure accuracy.
Staff Development
  • Participate in workshops and seminars as required.
Dietary Services
  • Prepare and present meals that are appealing and appetizing.
Additional Duties
  • Assist in meal service as needed and ensure timely delivery.
Working Environment
  • Engage in various physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving throughout the workday.
  • Be prepared for frequent interruptions.
  • Work beyond standard hours, including weekends, and temporarily assume other roles when necessary.
Qualifications

Education
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
Experience
  • Preferred: At least one year of dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or similar medical environment.
Specific Requirements
  • Ability to prepare a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Capability to follow both oral and written instructions.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
  • May need to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies exceeding fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must possess the ability to taste and smell food to assess quality and palatability.
