Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled District Forestry Manager to oversee the management of our timberlands in Humboldt county. The successful candidate will have a strong background in sustainable forest management and be able to effectively balance commercial and environmental interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage district forestry program, including forest resource management, wildlife, botanical, and hydrological resources, and timber resources.
  • Plan and implement programs to ensure effective use of resources, meeting current and long-term objectives of sustainable forest management.
  • Direct and administer timberland management activities, including timber harvest operations, insect and disease control, road construction and maintenance, facility upkeep, recreation, grazing, and watershed restoration.
  • Represent the company's interests with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Promote a positive company image, educate key community groups, and engage in local issues advocating approved policy positions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Forestry or closely related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in CA sustainable forest management and THP preparation, reforestation, harvest scheduling, contract negotiations, and administration.
  • Thorough working knowledge of local, state, and federal political/regulatory processes.
  • Demonstrated skill in leadership, effective communication, motivation, and people management.
