JOB OVERVIEW:
The Senior Systems Architect (SSA) is responsible for ensuring that the comprehensive system of applications, databases, and infrastructures aligns with both current and future technical, business, and security needs. The SSA evaluates the dynamic business, functional, and technical requirements of various business units and stakeholders to propose and assess intricate architectures, including commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions and bespoke software, as well as local and cloud hosting environments, alongside diverse data sources and integration necessities. This role is pivotal in driving modernization initiatives, which include:
  • Acting as a principal advisor to technical leaders.
  • Designing and assessing system architecture in collaboration with technical and business teams.
  • Analyzing solutions while considering resource availability, development methodologies, and business limitations.
  • Facilitating communication between different technical and functional domains such as security, middleware, support services, application development, data management, and business intelligence to ensure cohesive system components.
  • Coordinating across projects to maintain consistency in technical decisions with the overarching system architecture.
  • Conducting external research with peer organizations to evaluate systems and architectures, utilizing insights to inform robust solutions.
  • Performing cost-benefit analyses of architectural choices, including cloud hosting options, considering both immediate costs and long-term support implications.
  • Adapting system design and framework as new components are integrated or system requirements evolve.
