Who We Seek:
The HR Operations Leader will oversee and guide the functions of the Plant Human Resources (HR) department, leading a team of HR Generalists, Talent Acquisition Specialists, and Payroll personnel.
Key responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, hourly recruitment and onboarding, comprehensive administration and enforcement of company policies and practices, alignment with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, collaboration with plant leadership on cultural transformation, and assessment of the human resource function within the facility.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about enhancing the plant culture and workforce, serving as a valuable resource for all team members, being receptive to inquiries for information and assistance, and demonstrating effective and prompt follow-through.
Your Responsibilities:
Manage a team of salaried HR professionals through daily operations; cultivate their skills and strengths; encourage their growth within and beyond their expertise; evaluate their performance and provide constructive feedback; and be available to guide and influence their HR decision-making abilities.
Ensure uniform application of company policies, including managing attendance points policy; issuing disciplinary documentation; investigating alleged misconduct; advising plant leadership on disciplinary issues; and ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Handle all hourly and salaried employee escalations, including those within and outside of policy; manage the union grievance process in collaboration with the local union; partner with the plant leadership team on consistent policy application; and escalate to the HR Director as necessary to ensure alignment with company standards.
Lead your team in hourly recruitment efforts, including confirming hiring needs with Plant Leadership; collaborating with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; extending job offers; scheduling drug tests and background checks; onboarding new employees; communicating internal opportunities; facilitating internal transfers; conducting exit interviews; and identifying areas for improvement.
Assist your team in processing weekly payroll for hourly team members using ADP Workforce Now, including resolving timecard discrepancies; confirming timecard approvals; processing weekly payroll files; and investigating payroll issues.
Establish and maintain departmental records and reports, including investigative and personnel files with ADP. Participate in plant leadership meetings and attend other gatherings, ensuring that there is an HR perspective and voice.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment regulations.
Participate in unemployment hearings when necessary.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
6+ years of human resource management experience in a similarly sized organization is required.
Experience in manufacturing or the automotive industry is preferred.
PHR / SHRM-CP/SCP certification is preferred.
A Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Ability to understand the broader impact of decisions – how key business drivers affect the company's financial performance.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; comfortable addressing challenging situations in both individual and group settings.
Employ an objective and balanced approach to analysis and decision-making.
Demonstrated expertise in key HR disciplines, including Attraction & Retention, Alignment and Performance Management, Compensation & Benefits, and Training & Development, as well as Union experience.
Able to inspire, influence, and develop others.
Demonstrates thoroughness, accuracy, and reliability in job tasks; exhibits honesty and integrity in all work aspects.
Maintains positive relationships by constructively resolving conflicts.
