Job Summary

The University of Utah is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Investments to oversee the management and performance of the University's endowment investments. This individual will act as a liaison between the University, the University of Utah Growth Capital Partners, and the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer, ensuring the endowment supports the university's long-term financial goals and strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize quarterly Investment Advisory Committee meetings and develop agendas, prepare meeting materials, and ensure effective communication among committee members.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation for internal and external audits, focusing on the annual investment audit and ensuring all necessary schedules and reports are accurate and complete.
  • Provide detailed and accurate investment information to the Utah Board of Higher Education as required, ensuring compliance with state regulations and reporting standards.
  • Conduct monthly financial analysis of the endowment pool to monitor and report on financial performance, providing insights and recommendations based on analytical findings.
  • Engage in regular operational discussions with the OCIO, monitoring compliance with the University's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and other contractual obligations.
  • Work with the University of Utah Growth Capital Partners to develop and implement investment strategies and priorities, aligning strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions with state parameters and university objectives.
  • Ensure endowment payouts align with the needs and priorities of the University of Utah, coordinating with various stakeholders to optimize the utilization of endowment funds.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in investment management, with experience in overseeing endowment investments and managing investment teams. A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field is required, with a master's degree preferred. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
