Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant - Family Medicine Norlanco

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Family Medicine Norlanco in Elizabethtown, PA. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our providers in delivering high-quality medical services.

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing patients for visits, administering injections, and providing gross observations to providers. You will also be responsible for preparing and administering medications, assisting with procedures, and performing Point of Care Testing. Additionally, you will provide clinical advice by phone/electronic correspondence and authorize prescription refills as directed by providers.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for visits by using appropriate rooming standards tool
  • Administer injections, as prescribed by provider and in accordance with practice protocol
  • Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by the provider in accordance with federal and state regulations
  • Assist providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and other exams as designated by the provider
  • Perform Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests
  • Remove sutures and change dressings on wounds as necessary
  • Provide clinical advice by phone/electronic correspondence in accordance with established triage protocols and relay information to the patient
  • Authorize prescription refills as directed by the provider
  • Assist in test tracking and monitoring overdue results
  • Assure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit
  • Assist with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventive and chronic disease services
  • Perform care coordination activities among specialists and transitions of care to obtain all necessary patient information
  • Assist in the coordination of referrals, education, and community resources
  • Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives to improve overall patient experience and quality of care
  • Participate in daily huddles with the provider
  • Serve as a patient experience advocate by being always a positive influence when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues
  • Handle all patient information in a confidential manner according to Lancaster General Health privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general equivalent (GED) is required
  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution (AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT or NAHTR)
  • CPR Certification required: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support, formerly Healthcare Provider (AHA Heart Saver AMA CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
  • Valid driver's license is required for Regional Positions only
  • A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) to two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience in a primary or specialty care physician's office
Work Environment:

This role may necessitate occasional regional travel. The Certified Medical Assistant will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of productivity while providing exceptional patient care.
