The Livingston County Animal Shelter is seeking a dedicated part-time Veterinarian to join our exceptional team.

Your Responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will be a licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with a minimum of two years of veterinary experience, capable of obtaining a Schedule IV DEA license and a Michigan Pharmacy license. The Shelter Veterinarian will oversee and manage all veterinary and medical care for shelter animals. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing a comprehensive health care program encompassing environmental sanitation, disease surveillance, physical examinations, vaccinations, parasite control, disease testing and treatment, surgery, nutrition, outbreak response, and environmental enrichment for shelter animals.
- Providing triage and emergency medical care, including being on call as necessary.
- Monitoring the health of shelter animals, diagnosing and treating injuries and medical conditions, performing pain management, supportive and life-saving surgeries, and other treatments.
- Conducting high-volume spay and neuter surgeries for shelter animals and the public.
- Advising the Animal Control Director and Officers on cases of abuse, cruelty, and neglect, and preparing reports that may be required for court appearances.
