Position Overview:
The Urology division at Geisinger Health System is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider to join our team. This role involves collaborating closely with physicians to deliver comprehensive care to both new and existing patients. The position requires a high level of autonomy in patient evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. The provider will be responsible for ordering necessary tests, interpreting results, and prescribing medications and therapies within the established scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday with potential weekend coverage.
- Provide care in both clinic and inpatient settings, with no operating room responsibilities.
- May require travel to outreach clinics.
- Conduct assessments and establish preliminary diagnoses while implementing treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records; order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe evidence-based medical therapies.
- Adjust or discontinue medications or therapies as clinically indicated.
- Communicate effectively with collaborating physicians, patients, and referring staff.
- Instill confidence in patients by acting as their advocate and providing safe, ethical care and health education.
- Follow organizational policies and guidelines to achieve procedural goals.
Position Details:
Under the supervision of a physician, the Advanced Practice Provider will perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to establish diagnoses and develop treatment plans. The role includes gathering necessary data to implement the physician's therapeutic plan and acting as a patient advocate within the healthcare system.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies (Required)
Certifications:
Basic Life Support Certification, Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
Skills Required:
Knowledge of care management, clinical policies, health information documentation, patient assessment, and safety protocols.
