Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant I - Med/Surg Float (32-Hours, Days)
About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Nurse Assistant I to join our team at Kaiser Permanente in Clackamas, Oregon. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will work closely with Registered Nurses to provide high-quality patient care and support.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient and organization records and information.
- Take responsibility for staying informed about departmental communications.
- Coordinate with Charge RN/Supervising RN to ensure proper coverage when leaving the unit.
- Obtain assignments from Charge Nurse/Supervising RN and report status to RN at regular intervals during shift.
- Notify Charge RN/Supervising RN and report status of assignments at regular intervals during shift.
- Communicate patient care information to maintain standards of care.
- Interact with patients, families, and staff in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner.
- Provide assistance to members or connect them with the appropriate person as needed.
- Practice safety standards by maintaining safe use of equipment.
- Operate and maintain equipment according to manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
- Report need for repair, remove and tag defective equipment, and initiate repair request according to policy and procedure.
- Identify patients by checking identification band prior to performing duties.
- Handle hazardous and infectious waste in compliance with regulations.
- Perform roles during Codes.
- Deliver services that promote patient comfort and safety.
- Assist patients and team members in safely lifting, transferring, turning, positioning, ambulating, and transporting.
- Apply safety devices as assigned by RN.
- Perform delegated tasks as defined in CNA1 Scope of Duties:
- Accurately measure and record vital signs and report abnormal findings immediately to supervising RN.
- Collect and transport specimens when necessary.
- Document completion of delegated tasks on designated chart forms.
- Report observed changes in patient condition to supervising RN.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
- Complete tasks efficiently and timely as assigned.
- Collaborate with supervising RN to prioritize tasks according to situation and total assignment.
- Remain adaptable to changes in work environment and related assignments.
Requirements:
- Nursing Assistant Certificate - Level 1 (Oregon)
- BLS w/AED Certification
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting and carrying: Able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds; may assist in moving patients and/or equipment weighing 100-300 pounds.
- Bending: able to bend up to 60 times per shift at waist and knees.
- Walking: able to stand and walk for entire shift; walk 3-5 miles during shift.
- Pushing/pulling weights 100-300 pounds with assistance.
- Standing: able to stand 6-8 hours per shift.
Salary: The estimated salary range for this role is $45,000-$65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
