About the Role:

As a CEI Bridge and Roadway Inspector with S&ME, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of transportation projects, including roadways and bridges. Your technical expertise will be essential in overseeing and inspecting contractor operations, such as clearing and grubbing, earthmoving, paving, concrete pavement, bridge construction, pipe installation, traffic control, and pavement marking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical duties associated with the oversight and inspection of transportation projects, including roadways and bridges.
  • Observe and inspect various contractor operations to ensure contractor compliance with contracts, plans, and specifications.
  • Conduct materials sampling and testing, prepare daily inspection reports, and document contractor payments.
  • Perform calculations and documentation related to project inspection and material testing.
  • Inspect erosion control devices for compliance with plans and permits.
  • Attend progress and safety meetings.
  • Interact with third-party construction personnel.
  • Conduct DBE and EEO compliance surveys.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED required and 4+ years of highway related construction or inspection experience or;
  • 2-year technical degree or higher in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with 2+ years of highway related construction experience or;
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or Construction Engineering Technology Degree
  • WV TRET Certification or ability to obtain WV TRET certification within 6 months
  • Ability to lift between 40-50 lbs
  • Math and technical writing skills
