Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery RN to join our team at New Ulm Medical Center. As a Labor and Delivery RN, you will provide high-quality patient care to expectant mothers and their newborns. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to laboring women and their newborns, including triage, assessment, and management of labor and delivery.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Administer medications and perform procedures as ordered by physicians.
  • Participate in emergency situations, such as codes and transfers.
  • Document patient care and outcomes in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Labor and Delivery RN.
  • BCLS and NRP certifications required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
Work Schedule

This is a 3x12s night shift position, with every other weekend rotation. On-call hours do not count towards the guaranteed minimum hours.

Unit Specific Information

As a Labor and Delivery RN, you will be required to float to units outside of OB to help support patient care. You will be expected to be a "watcher" for mental health patients or those at risk for harm, and may be asked to help with taking vital signs and/or toileting and re-positioning of patients on the medical/surgical unit.
