Role Summary:Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist / CVOR Tech plays a crucial role in supporting the surgical team by providing both direct and indirect patient care within the Operating Room. This position is essential in fostering a professional, compassionate, and responsive healthcare environment for patients, physicians, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:- Engage in hospital or departmental performance enhancement initiatives.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness of light fixtures, tables, and surgical stands.
- Verify supplies, instruments, and equipment against preference cards, procuring any necessary items.
- Scrub for assigned surgical procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon during operations while ensuring a safe and sterile environment.
- Utilize supplies and sutures efficiently.
- Handle all specimens with accuracy.
- Support in preparing the patient prior to applying surgical dressings.
- Contribute to the upkeep and management of instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the location, care, and operation of all surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assist in the cleaning and restocking of all operating rooms.
- Initiate and/or assist in updating preference cards.
- Adhere to Universal Precautions.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Seek opportunities to enhance departmental or interdepartmental processes.
- Act as a clinical resource for department staff, students, volunteers, and other departments, fostering teamwork essential for quality patient care.

- Current BCLS certification required.
- Certification CST by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or TS-C by National Center for Competency Testing.
- Must possess CST certification from NBSTSA.
- Graduate from an accredited operating room technology program or nursing school, with CST exam completion within 180 days of graduation.
- Preferred: Two years of Operating Room experience.
- Preferred: Experience in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery.
- Experience in CVOR or Kidney Transplant is advantageous; strong general surgery experience is also considered.
