Steel Erector Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Steel Erector to join our construction team at Kirby Nagelhout Construction Co. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in erecting steel frameworks for various types of buildings and structures, including commercial, industrial, and residential projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints: The Steel Erector will be responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints and construction plans to ensure accurate and efficient construction.
  • Lift and Position Steel Components: The candidate will lift and position steel components using cranes and other equipment to ensure safe and precise placement.
  • Bolt or Weld Steel Components: The Steel Erector will bolt or weld steel components together to create a sturdy and secure structure.
  • Ensure Safety Regulations: The candidate will ensure that all work is completed in accordance with safety regulations and project specifications.
  • Report Issues and Delays: The Steel Erector will report any issues or delays to the site supervisor to ensure timely completion of the project.
  • Perform Quality Checks: The candidate will perform quality checks on completed work to ensure it meets the required standards.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 3+ years as a Steel Erector or similar role.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
  • Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Driver's License: Current driver's license.
  • Travel: Ability to travel to jobsites within the Central Oregon Region.
  • Physical Demands: Must have physical strength and manual dexterity, including hand/eye coordination, to manage all materials and tasks as required per job.
