Histotechnician Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnician to join our team at McLaren USA. As a Histotechnician, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue and biological samples for examination by pathologists and cytotechnologists.

• Gross Pathology: Prepare specimens for gross description and assist at the grossing bench. Prepare frozen sections and maintain the integrity of the specimen.
• Routine Histology: Embed specimens accurately, cut slides that are fully representative of the block, and stain them with routine H and E stain. Maintain the integrity of the specimen.
• Slide Preparation: Label and distribute slides accurately, perform maintenance and Q.C. on all equipment in the area, and communicate and document any problems.
• Equipment Operation: Operate, calibrate, prepare, and maintain equipment for all types of tissue processing and labeling, recording, and verifying the quality of slides for microscopic evaluation.
• Stain Setup: Prepare and maintain stain setup, filter stains, change stains, wash stain dishes, and clean stainer according to QC chart. Document on QC chart when stains are filtered/changed.
• Pap, Gyn, and Non-Gyn Specimens: Match patient information to requisition and specimen received.

• Associates degree including coursework in chemistry and biology or completion of an accredited histotechnician (HT) program.
• Histotechnician certification or certified within 18-months of hire or transfer.
