SpaceX is revolutionizing the space industry with cutting-edge technology, and we're seeking a highly skilled software engineer to join our Starshield team. As a key player in this ambitious project, you will design, develop, and deploy reliable software systems that control hundreds of satellites in low earth orbit.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of computer architecture, networks, and programming languages such as C, C++, or Python. Experience with Linux-based systems and networking protocols (TCP, UDP, etc.) is also highly desirable. Our team works collaboratively to brainstorm, design, and build the next generation of satellite capabilities, from cutting-edge sensors and inter-satellite lasers to space-based cloud compute.

We offer a competitive salary range of $160,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year, with opportunities for long-term incentives, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits package. This role requires active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create high-quality software systems that meet mission-critical requirements
  • Leverage software design to improve satellite constellation performance, security, and availability
  • Develop models and simulations for flight-like vehicle software testing, network performance analysis, or research & development projects
  • Work effectively and creatively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or other STEM discipline, or 7+ years of professional experience in software development
  • 2+ years of development experience in C, C++, or Python
  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Solid fundamental knowledge of computer architecture and networks
  • Strong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, take initiative, and communicate effectively

Additional Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed
