About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Service Corporation International. As a key member of our cemetery operations team, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment and trucks to maintain our grounds and cemetery roads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate trucks and heavy equipment, including dump trucks, tractors, and backhoes, to load, haul, and unload equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Support cemetery operations by digging ditches and trenches, hoisting materials, and performing other tasks as needed.
  • Ensure burials, entombments, and inurnments are securely and carefully opened and closed.
  • Install memorials and markers, and set and install outer burial containers.
  • Follow Interment Verification Procedures and conduct 25-foot radius preparation for burials.
  • Adhere to all Company safety rules and universal precautions.
  • Maintain and protect Company assets by performing regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Complete Dignity University courses and other training as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School degree or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months working with heavy equipment.
Work Environment

This role requires working outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions. You will be required to stand for long periods, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds.
