Job Summary

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for handling all hematology, coagulation, routine chemistry, and immunoassay testing with a focus on providing 100% accuracy when processing samples.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to laboratory quality control policies, quality control activities, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain accurate inventory at all times
  • Review and implement SOP updates in a timely manner
  • Suggest improvements to workflow processes
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks and decontamination of equipment and workspaces
  • Notify supervisor of any issues with test systems
  • Facilitate and ensure appropriate work output based on current metrics
  • Identify and report any problems that may affect test performance or reporting of test results
  • Participate in processing proficiency testing samples
  • Complete all required continuing education units (CEU) for CAP accreditation
  • Stay informed of all incident reports and compliance-related issues
  • Support additional duties as required
Requirements
  • Clinical testing personnel must possess a current license issued by the state in which the laboratory is located, if such licensing is required
  • Meet the following educational requirements: 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that includes 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses
  • Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, NAACLS, or other organization approved by HHS
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-year clinical laboratory experience required, 2-3 years' experience preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of QA/QC to ensure precision and accuracy of results
  • Broad understanding of high complexity chemistry/immunoassay testing
  • ASCP, AMT, or other organization certification preferred
