Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing a range of routine upkeep and repair tasks that necessitate a foundational understanding of various building trades. This role encompasses custodial duties, grounds upkeep, and the coordination of specialized vendors for intricate electrical, plumbing, and mechanical tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all interactions embody the principles of Kids First, Safety, Family, Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Challenge, and Community Engagement.
  • Maintain an environment that guarantees a physically and emotionally safe space for youth, fostering effective learning, growth, and progress towards personalized objectives.
  • Exhibit supportive, consistent, and respectful behavior towards all individuals to cultivate an atmosphere of healthy relationships, trust, and mutual respect; establish clear boundaries and provide observations and reflections to youth while promoting equity and diversity.
  • Conduct regular inspections of both the interior and exterior of the facility to ensure optimal maintenance.
  • Engage and schedule qualified technical specialists to address plumbing, electrical, heating, and other maintenance tasks that require specific certifications or licenses.
  • Keep a detailed Maintenance Request/Completion log.
  • Address Maintenance Request Orders that have received approval from the Executive Director.
  • Prioritize daily tasks to enhance the facility's functionality.
  • Develop a weekly work schedule that minimizes disruption to Team Members and youth, with the schedule approved by the Executive Director.
  • Coordinate off-site trips for the procurement of materials as necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, mowers, weed eaters, power tools, and similar equipment.
  • Oversee maintenance and repairs, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical work, drywall, heating, air conditioning, small appliances, painting, small engine repair, remodeling, and carpentry, carried out by licensed contractors.
  • Share knowledge and/or train youth on preventative maintenance practices when safety and security are assured.
  • Provide emergency remediation for facility issues until a licensed contractor can conduct the final repair and inspection.
  • Ensure that all personnel, including Team Members, youth, and licensed contractors, utilize the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and comply with OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation training and certification.
  • Be available for 24-hour on-call service to address emergency situations.
  • Perform additional related duties as requested by the Executive Director, provided the individual is qualified.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Possess the necessary state certifications, licenses, and qualifications to perform repairs and remodeling in accordance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of worksite safety practices and relevant federal and state regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
