Position Overview

Summary: Enhances patient health and wellness by delivering physical therapy services under the guidance of a licensed physical therapist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the physical therapist's effectiveness by identifying patient care challenges; providing insights and suggestions; recommending treatment options; and executing physical therapy plans.
  • Evaluates patient health by conducting interviews; performing physical assessments; and reviewing therapy histories.
  • Identifies abnormal conditions by analyzing the physical therapist's evaluations and test outcomes.
  • Records patient care activities by documenting in patient and departmental files.
  • Administers therapeutic interventions by guiding patients through manual exercises; motivating and assisting them in engaging in physical activities, including non-manual exercises, mobility tasks, and daily living activities; and utilizing assistive devices like crutches, canes, and prosthetics.
  • Educates and advises patients by outlining therapeutic plans; providing information on normal growth and development; and promoting health and wellness.
  • Ensures continuity of care by formulating and executing patient management strategies.
  • Maintains a safe and hygienic work environment by adhering to established procedures, regulations, and infection-control protocols.
  • Meets productivity targets by staying informed on current treatment trends; monitoring the actual physical therapy services provided against productivity goals.
  • Ensures compliance with legal and accreditation standards by following federal, state, and local regulations, while anticipating emerging issues.
  • Enhances professional knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities; reviewing industry publications; maintaining professional networks; and participating in relevant organizations.
  • Contributes to the reputation of the physical therapy department and medical center by taking initiative in fulfilling new and diverse requests; seeking opportunities to enhance job performance.

Qualifications:

Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Physical or Occupational Therapy. Must hold a valid license in the State of Texas.
