Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated EMT to join our team at Coastal Health Systems of. As an EMT, you will be responsible for providing basic life support medical care and transportation to patients in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to non-emergency and emergency calls, providing calm and efficient care to patients.
  • Administer basic life support to patients on scene and during transport, adhering to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Assess the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
  • Effectively communicate with medical personnel and treatment facilities to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Complete patient care forms, evaluation forms, and other necessary documentation.
  • Adhere to and follow all policies and procedures concerning safety and contamination by bloodborne pathogens.
  • Properly document each transport on the approved Patient Care Report.
  • Handle telephone and radio communications professionally and efficiently, maintaining confidentiality when necessary.
  • Ensure vehicles are in good working condition, properly maintained, and stocked with necessary equipment.
  • May be required to work during man-made or natural disasters, providing support operations as needed.
  • Observe and comply with all HIPAA policies and regulations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent.
  • Current State of Florida EMT certification, which must be maintained and current.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
  • EVOC/CEVO certification (may be obtained during training).
  • Current FL Driver's License, with a driving record that meets insurance requirements for driving a company-owned vehicle.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
  • Six months of prior EMT experience preferred.
Work Environment

Coastal Health Systems of is a 24/7/365 operation, and as a healthcare organization, employees may be required to work outside of traditional business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and man-made or natural disaster situations.

Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions, bloodborne and airborne pathogens, or infectious materials is expected. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 100+ pounds and may be required to lift/move patients in excess of 250 pounds with assistance.

This position requires moderate exposure or risk to physical health and/or physical safety. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used include ambulance vehicles, medical equipment, stretchers, and other medical devices, computer, tablet, radio, cell phone.
