Job Title: Project Engineer

Job Overview: The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the project team by managing information pertinent to scheduling, execution, and financial aspects of projects. This position aids in project organization, budgeting, and implementation while assisting the Project Manager in addressing field challenges as they arise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Project Manager in ensuring the smooth flow of projects from initiation to completion.
  • Review and analyze contract and bid documents from the estimating phase.
  • Understand project scope for effective turnover.
  • Participate in project walk-throughs.
  • Collaborate with project foremen on safety protocols, toolbox discussions, and weekly inspections.
  • Manage project documentation, including insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and correspondence.
  • Ensure proper documentation is stored in the project's control software.
  • Confirm that accurate drawings are distributed to the field team.
  • Integrate project completion dates and subcontractor requirements into the overall project schedule as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Monitor deliveries of major equipment and subcontractors, ensuring timely notifications and shipping requirements are met.
  • Facilitate material takeoffs with trade foremen.
  • Support the accounting department with monthly billing and collections processes.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Collect information for changes in work and relay it to estimating for pricing.
  • Ensure no work commences without prior approval or notice to proceed.
  • Assist field personnel during project closeout.
  • Obtain as-built drawings from the field team.
  • Escalate critical issues to the Project Manager with suggested resolutions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety programs.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 2 years of field experience with an electrical contractor.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or construction management from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and other technical or construction software.
  • Experience with project management/document control software.
Must-Have Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Exhibit integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to company values.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment.
  • Maintain high-quality standards and attention to detail.
  • Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills to foster positive relationships with clients, colleagues, management, and suppliers.
