Art Instructor

Friendship Community is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating the capabilities of individuals with intellectual disability and autism. We are seeking a part-time Art Instructor to join our team.

The Art Instructor will be responsible for instructing classes for Heart Artists, supporting their goals and aspirations. This is a rewarding position that offers ample self-direction and opportunity for input.

• Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the varying skill levels of the Artists, incorporating themed projects and classes centered on specific mediums.
• Share specialized art skills with Artists, teaching basic strategies such as composition, professionalizing work, and self-presentation as artists.
• Observe and support the Individuals' health and safety, communicating or documenting any changes to the Studio Nurse, Studio Manager, Gallery Manager, or Director of Operations.

• Art Degree or art instruction background desired, but other relevant experience may be considered.
• 1 year of experience in art instruction and working with adults with intellectual disability and autism.

This is a part-time position with variable days, working 8:00AM - 4:30PM. The Art Instructor will be part of a highly creative and dynamic team working in an active art studio and in the community.

$14.50 per hour.
