Job Title: Route/Hauling

Southern Oregon Sanitation Inc is committed to delivering exceptional service to our customers. We achieve this by providing our front-line employees with comprehensive support systems. Our Class A B Driver plays a vital role in this support network, enabling our hauling team to excel in service delivery by managing daily material removal.

We seek self-motivated, safety-focused individuals who embody a team-oriented mindset. This position requires individuals who can work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of safety awareness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform assigned routes in a safe and timely manner
  • Communicate effectively with Transfer Station staff through radio and written communications
  • Complete daily vehicle inspections and driver logs
  • Ensure equipment is clean and report maintenance concerns to supervisors and mechanics
  • Adhere to landfill agreements, company policies, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
  • Possible exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery
  • Regularly maneuver in and out of equipment
  • Climb into vehicles and raised surfaces, including ascending/descending ladders with three-point contact
  • Lift loads up to 50 pounds repeatedly
  • Manipulate a two-handed tarping system
  • Bending and lifting to remove debris using shovels, rakes, and other maintenance tools
  • Must be able to identify vehicle safety and performance issues, as well as printed information sheets
Work Environment:

This position operates in a vehicle navigating through commercial and residential areas under various adverse weather conditions.

Reporting Relationship:

This position reports to a direct supervisor, depending on the assigned route.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a non-exempt, full-time position with potential weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Requirements:
  • Must be able to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle and/or passenger vehicle(s)
  • Know and follow traffic laws and vehicle/equipment handling guidelines
  • Comfortable driving in difficult weather conditions
  • Safety-oriented
  • Learn and retain information quickly
  • Team-driven
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must exercise good judgment in decisions
  • Must be self-motivated and self-disciplined to stay on task without direct supervision
Education, Experience, and Eligibility Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class A or B CDL License
  • Current Medical Card
  • Minimum of 1 year Commercial Driving Experience
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Must be insurable by Company insurance policy (CDL Medical Examiner Certificate may be required)
  • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
  • Knowledge of Josephine, Jackson, and Douglas Counties
  • Customer service experience
