The Registered Nurse is responsible for ensuring comprehensive care during the antepartum, intrapartum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal stages for patients in Labor and Delivery. This role requires adherence to the Nursing Process in alignment with the state Nurse Practice Act and institutional policies.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Accountability: The RN is tasked with maintaining accountability for patient care during their shifts, demonstrating critical thinking and scientific judgment.
- Leadership: This position involves planning and anticipating the delivery of safe care, while also maintaining clinical competencies through ongoing education.
- Delegation: The RN will prioritize patient care tasks based on the education and experience of available staff, providing guidance and supervision to those delivering care.
- Certifications required: BLS, ALS, PALS, NRP
- Shift Hours: Day shifts from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, totaling 36 hours per week.
- On-Call Duties: Rarely required to be on call, but presence in the facility is typically necessary.
- Flexibility: May need to assist in Med/Surg departments if there are no patients in OB and a need arises.
