This is a challenging role that requires a high level of technical expertise and attention to detail. As a Mechanic Technician with Yavapai County, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:- Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment and vehicles to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Tire Replacement and Repair: Replace and repair tires on all vehicles and equipment in the shop and on job sites.
- Ground Engaging Wear Parts: Replace cutting edges and teeth on equipment to maintain optimal performance.
- Diagnostic and Repair: Perform entry-level equipment and vehicle mechanical diagnosis and repair.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed on computer.
- Reporting: Run basic reports on pending preventative maintenance and repair history.
- Other Duties: Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
- Additional Requirements: Must possess or obtain a valid Arizona Class A Commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement within six months of employment.
- Knowledge: All tools and equipment used in equipment fleet maintenance and repair, occupational hazards and safety precautions, business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition, clerical office practices and procedures, current Microsoft Office software, filing and recordkeeping.
- Skills: Communicating effectively verbally and in writing, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public, organization, cleanliness, and adherence to detail.
- Abilities: Perform repair work on vehicles and equipment, effectively and efficiently interpret and apply information contained in technical repair manuals, work after hours/weekends due to inclement weather or emergency conditions, develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
The work environment is associated with a workshop and includes exposure to loud noise, machinery, dust, fumes, mist, and chemicals.
Physical Requirements:Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in-person and telephonically, capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists, ability to walk, bend, push, pull, stoop, kneel, balance, climb, crawl, crouch, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
