At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Senior IC Layout Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the advanced silicon technology that will enable our mission to make humanity a multi-planetary species.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement IC layout designs for our advanced silicon technology
  • Work with systems architects to determine chip floor plans, power and ground distribution, and packaging engineer to determine pad locations
  • Estimate and manage layout work schedules, identifying areas of complexity that require early investigation
  • Perform layout of custom RF and analog circuit blocks, ensuring matching and minimizing parasitic capacitance
  • Conduct design rule checking, electrical rule checking, and layout versus schematic checks, resolving errors and ensuring design integrity
  • Integrate top-level layout with electrostatic discharge structures and pad assembly, performing final tape out and sharing GDS with the foundry
  • Stay up-to-date with EDA tools and features, working with suppliers to trial new technologies
  • Develop and share guides and demos with the team to showcase improvements in layout technique
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • 5+ years of professional experience as an IC layout designer or 8+ years of experience with integrated circuit layout design
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Strong analog layout skills
  • Experience with advanced node IC layouts (22nm, 16nm, 7nm, 5nm or below)
  • Experience with layout of circuits with frequencies up to 50GHz
  • Experience with layout of sensitive RF blocks (low noise amplifiers, voltage controlled oscillators, and mixers)
  • Experience with scripting languages (Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with revision control systems
  • Understanding of layout considerations for device matching, coupling, and noise isolation
  • Working knowledge of Linux
