GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Accountable for overseeing and coordinating all functions within designated areas of Radiology / Medical Imaging. This role may encompass multiple locations and/or imaging modalities. Directs assigned personnel and operations to guarantee efficient, effective, and timely delivery of imaging services. Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and evaluates performance, quality, and workflow processes.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts interviews, hires, orients, trains, mentors, and when necessary, disciplines staff within the assigned area.
  • Assesses competency, organizes relevant in-services. Acts as a technical expert and aids in resolving complex issues as required.
  • Contributes to the formulation, modification, and execution of departmental objectives, policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure adherence to State and Federal regulations, accrediting bodies, and other compliance standards. Addresses issues as necessary.
  • Supervises the upkeep and revision of various records, logs, and databases to ensure accurate and comprehensive data is maintained. Periodic audits and reporting of discrepancies may be required. May generate a variety of recurring and/or special reports, including statistical, regulatory metrics, and budgetary analyses.
  • Manages additional administrative tasks such as supply procurement, scheduling, and overtime management. Ensures that equipment and workspaces are kept in a clean and organized state, including coordinating maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Evaluates staffing levels to sustain appropriate workflows.
  • Implements quality control/assurance measures and may lead process enhancement initiatives in their area of expertise.
  • Addresses all QA/RL/Patient concerns and resolves and documents as appropriate. Oversees all safety protocols within their area of responsibility.
  • Represents the Department in institutional functions as requested.
  • Exhibits leadership in promoting "Each Patient First" principles.
  • May perform imaging procedures within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • If overseeing multiple areas, will meet competency standards in at least one of the designated areas.
KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent is mandatory.
  • Current certification in a Radiologic Technologist or Radiologic Science field is required. If overseeing multiple areas/modalities, must be certified in at least one area of responsibility.
  • Multiple certifications are preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Radiology is essential to acquire comprehensive knowledge of tests and procedures, as well as the functions of radiology personnel.
  • Must fulfill the required hours of continuing education.
  • Must maintain Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS).
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a health-related discipline is preferred.
  • Two years of supervisory experience is preferred.
