Position Overview
$16.25 Hourly
Compensation Note:
The initial pay for this role is set at the minimum of the specified pay range. A higher compensation may be considered based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate, as well as the organization's step placement policy.
Job Opportunities:
There are openings for both part-time/year-round and seasonal roles.
Part-time/year-round employees are limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week.
Seasonal employment typically spans from mid-April to mid-October.
Incentives for Recruitment:
$100 - Hiring/Return Incentive for Lifeguards after completing training, orientation, and their first month of active service; or for returning staff who complete their first month of active service.
$200 - Incentive for Lifeguards who meet the minimum hour requirements during specified periods:
50 hours from mid-April to late May
100 hours from late May to late June
100 hours from early July to late July
50 hours from early August to early September
$50 - Referral Incentive for
current non-management employees who refer lifeguard candidates that complete training, orientation, and their first month of active service.
$100 - End of season bonus for Lifeguards who work through early September.
$0.50 - Hourly incentive for Lifeguards working during facility rentals outside of public operating hours.
Important Note: All incentives are contingent upon the employee maintaining good standing without performance issues.
Job Classification: This position is classified as safety-sensitive in accordance with relevant regulations, meaning employees may face disciplinary action, including termination, if they test positive for certain substances.
Job Responsibilities
This role is situated within the
Parks and Recreation Department and entails acting as a lead worker at a municipal aquatic facility.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Performing duties consistent with those of a lifeguard.
- Preparing work schedules and assigning lifeguards to specific duty stations.
- Providing instruction on pool operations, safety protocols, maintenance, and related matters.
- Supervising lifeguards in enforcing safety regulations.
Applicants must possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and certifications, including Lifeguard Certification, Basic First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED Module, prior to employment. Travel may be required.
Additional Information
Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 16 years old at the time of application.
Parental Consent: If under 18, applicants must provide a signed authorization form from a parent or legal guardian during the interview process.
Certification Requirement: Lifeguard Certification, Basic First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED Module must be completed within the first month of employment.
The organization offers affordable lifeguarding and Certified Swimming Instructor classes for those interested in serving as a lifeguard.
Training encompasses basic water rescue skills and emergency first aid. Multiple training class times and dates are available.Cash Handling:
This position may involve accepting cash, making change, operating a concession stand or gift shop, and collecting fees or admission tickets from patrons at various events or facilities.
Payment Method:
Employees are required to receive pay electronically, either through direct deposit or pay card.
Rehire Eligibility:
Former employees must be eligible for rehire to participate in the selection process.
Background Checks:
A criminal history background check will be conducted for external applicants upon a conditional offer of employment.
