Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist II is a critical care specialist responsible for delivering patient care in complex, multiple problem-patient care situations. This role requires a deep understanding of respiratory care and the ability to implement evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Provides customer service by completing patient care, documentation, and education.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to plan patient care and verifies orders for aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, and oxygen medical gas therapy.
  • Performs ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation, and airway management, including intubation, extubation, tracheal tube change, and care.
  • Assists in invasive and non-invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing.
  • Provides safe quality environment by promoting current and accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging, and promoting high-level patient safety.

Required Minimum Education:

Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program with a minimum of 20 quarter hours of science.

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

Registered Respiratory Therapist, Respiratory Care Professional, Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider.

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

Ability to communicate well, critical thinking skills, establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and computer skills including familiarity with databases.
