Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Deputy Clerk to join our team at Cameron County. As a key member of our County Clerk department, you will be responsible for providing administrative support and ensuring the smooth operation of our records management system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clerical work in administrative support of assigned County Clerk department
  • Manage records in the proper storage and retrieval of documents
  • Provide routine clerical support and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies
  • Answer questions and maintain documents and records
  • Review and accept e-filings for official records following recording requirements
  • Record and file mark documents presented for recording that meet recording standards
  • Conduct searches and issue certified or non-certified copies of documents filed as Official Records
  • Provide services related to recording and filing of documents in either the Administrative or Judicial Building
  • Prepare documents for microfilming or scanning according to procedures established
  • Enter and verify data into Computer System to create or update records, generate forms or reports from data
  • Collect fees, fines, and court costs and issue receipts
  • Interview and underwrite terms for payment of fines and court costs
  • Prepare and send out collection notices
  • Enter daily collection memos into database
  • Monitor payment activity and post payments to database
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience performing clerical and/or administrative support work in civil or criminal fields, including at least one year in a County Clerk's Office
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
