Job Overview

The Highland Park Community Development Corp is seeking a Security Officer to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and security of our clients, staff, and property.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver professional protective services to all stakeholders.
  • Implement proactive and reactive strategies to enhance safety and reduce property loss.
  • Monitor, identify, and report security incidents and unlawful activities.
  • Comply with licensing requirements for Security Officers in New York state.
Core Duties:
  • Maintain necessary licensing and adhere to relevant laws and organizational policies.
  • Follow the NYS Security Guard and HPCDC Code of Ethics.
  • Exhibit appropriate responses to security and safety challenges.
  • Provide exceptional service and foster positive interactions.
  • Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effectively prevent and manage conflicts.
  • Enforce security protocols and conduct standards.
  • Remain vigilant, patrol designated areas, secure exits, and respond to security breaches.
  • Identify and mitigate potential threats and security vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in evacuations and respond to emergency situations.
  • Document incidents accurately and provide necessary witness accounts.
  • Communicate efficiently with clients, team members, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Engage in investigations and continuous training initiatives.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Work shifts may vary, including overnight, daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
  • All essential job functions require physical presence; remote work is not applicable.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Physical activities include climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, standing, lifting, and grasping.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Possession of a NYS Security Guard License and Fire Guard for Shelters (f02) certification.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is required.
  • Experience or knowledge in working with diverse populations is advantageous.
