Facilities Maintenance Coordinator

The Diocese of Orlando is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Coordinator to provide a range of services including mechanical repair, general maintenance, and handyperson assistance for its buildings, equipment, and property. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and providing a safe and comfortable environment for our staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to maintain property, including grounds, offices, public areas, and equipment.
- Manage the organization's physical operations, including landscaping, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, plumbing, water treatment, irrigation, and electric systems.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and sanitation policies, procedures, and regulations, in conjunction with risk managers from insurance carriers.
- Conduct annual property inspections, generate work orders, and collaborate on the annual capital budget for maintenance activities.
- Provide minor preventive maintenance tasks for buildings, equipment, and property.
- Provide janitorial support services to staff.
- Remove trash, transport materials to disposal areas, and recycle materials.
- Clean and resupply restrooms.
- Set up and break down equipment and furniture for functions as required.
- Service and report mechanical malfunctions that cannot be repaired.
- Be aware of and report any unauthorized persons on the premises.
- Perform painting, minor plumbing repairs, minor electrical repairs, and other routine maintenance as needed.
- Interface with staff, managers, Diocese Project Managers, engineers, and outside contractors to review and/or develop renovation and new construction plans, coordinate communication with and work of outside contractors.
- Liaise with outside agencies on property matters, such as city and county agencies.
- Attend staff and planning sessions as required.
- Attend training and conferences and read information needed to stay current in the position.
- Ensure all set-ups for parish events and hall rentals are completed.

Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent. Three years of relevant experience in a similar position are preferred.
Other Skills and AbilitiesMust have working knowledge of all building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc. Individual should have the knowledge and skills to diagnose trouble issues, make minor repairs, and collaborate with outside vendors to get repairs done to building systems. Knowledge of the proper use and disposal of hazardous materials, safe handling techniques, and use of proper safety equipment as outlined by OSHA. Must have repair skills for minor equipment used inside or outside. Must be initiative-taking and prompt in performing tasks. Must successfully pass Diocesan background screening and Safe Environment Training.
Working ConditionsThe working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person will need to be available in the evening and at weekends, as needed. Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure.
Physical RequirementsTasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing 15 feet and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (30 pounds). Exposure to climate changes, uncomfortable temperatures, and fumes. Works with machinery requiring considerable caution.
