Role Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse (RN), adhering to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will deliver care in an environment attuned to each individual's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The Staff RN is responsible for providing patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.

Key Duties Include:

  • The Coordinator of Enterostomal Therapy delivers direct patient care to individuals with wounds and ostomies, employing the nursing process in line with applicable standards and organizational policies.
  • Oversees daily clinical care coordination by managing patient schedules and collaborating with pre-planned services to prioritize care.
  • Evaluates and assesses patient care for a designated group of patients, utilizing evidence-based practices; assists providers with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments; performs basic medical procedures under provider supervision.
  • Administers medications under provider direction, adhering to organizational standards and policies.
  • Assists in emergency situations as directed by the provider.
  • Thoroughly educates and explains procedures to patients and their families (diagnosis, disease process, etc.).
  • Accurately documents pertinent assessments, interventions, and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards and policies.
  • Takes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN required.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. Specialized training and/or certification in wound, ostomy, and continence nursing preferred. Minimum of two to three years of recent clinical experience required, with preferred experience in Wound or Ostomy Care.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage patient care, including delegation and supervision of other members of the patient care team.
  • Basic computer skills required; prior experience using an EMR for documentation preferred.
