Job Overview:
This role involves collaborating with the supervising physician to manage patient care effectively. The Nurse Practitioner will conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the guidance of the physician, ensuring quality and efficient care delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather, document, and communicate patient medical histories.
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and document findings.
- Prepare discharge and transfer summaries.
- Perform daily rounds, maintain progress notes, and issue routine orders related to comfort, diet, laboratory tests, and non-invasive examinations.
- Facilitate patient discharge processes.
- Provide education to patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment options, medications, nutrition, and post-discharge care.
- Act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers.
- Support nursing staff and physicians through effective communication.
- Conduct in-service training for office staff.
- Request consultations from relevant specialists.
- Follow up with outpatient care.
- Manage patient inquiries and coordinate with home health nurses.
- Evaluate patients needing medical consultations.
- Assist the physician in various aspects of patient care as needed.
- Maintain patient databases accurately.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid Virginia Physician Assistant license and a Virginia Nurse Practitioner license.
Current AHA BLS Provider CPR certification is required upon hire.
Previous experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is preferred.
