Overview:

Saint Marys Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. As a member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of laboratory procedures, including Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform waived, moderate, and highly complex tests authorized by CLIA and scope of practices listed under NAC 652.420 and NAC 652.410.
  • Adhere to laboratory procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
  • Follow established quality control policies and procedures in documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and correct the problem or notify your supervisor, Director, or Medical Director.
  • Perform maintenance on instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Review the accuracy of patient results prior to releasing or reporting.
  • Recognize age-specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics.
  • Ensure that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
  • May be required to perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all department and hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science or related BS from an accredited college.
  2. Meets education and certification requirements for licensure and possess a valid GENERAL SUPERVISOR license from the State of Nevada or is eligible to work while license is pending.
  3. Minimum of 3 years working in a clinical laboratory required.
  4. Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  5. Ability to work and problem solve independently.
  6. Flexibility to work any shift as needed preferred.
