Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Substation Design team at NV Energy. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive engineering design services for substation facilities and ensuring that they are constructed on schedule and within committed resource allocations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop economical, technically feasible, and reliable substation physical and control designs with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Provide technical management of multiple substation projects and prioritize work, collaborating with outside consulting firms and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure quality control on assigned projects by providing construction support as needed, including coordination with construction forces and job site inspections.
  • Provide coordination and communication with other departments in completing procurement tasks on projects with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Assist and guide other departments in the solution of non-standard substation design problems.
  • Provide accurate cost estimates for use in company budgeting procedures, identifying cash flow requirements.
  • Provide input for development of detailed project schedules and update project management system to reflect the status of projects assigned.
  • Ensure all compliance aspects of the position are known and followed, understanding and complying with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to the position and company.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in electrical engineering and 5 years of industry experience as a practicing engineer, or 8+ years as a practicing engineer without a PE license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of substation/control engineering principles and knowledge of other phases of engineering.
  • Demonstrated skills in analytical, interpersonal, and communication with company personnel, customers, and regulatory agencies, as well as multi-tasking, leadership, research, analysis, project management, problem-solving, and decision-making.
