Scope of Responsibility

The supervisor is tasked with cultivating a collaborative relationship between Facilities and Real Estate and the various university departments receiving custodial services. The role demands maintaining high service quality and supervising staff engaged in these operations.

Decision-Making Authority

The Facilities Custodial Supervisor operates under the guidance of the Custodial Services Manager but is expected to demonstrate problem-solving abilities and make independent decisions. This includes authorizing overtime, responding to emergencies, applying disciplinary measures, and addressing customer service needs.

Communication Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role, enabling effective interaction across all organizational levels. The supervisor must maintain a professional and constructive relationship with all team members.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and processes is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in facilities management or custodial services.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a service-oriented environment is highly desirable.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Frequent operation of computers and other equipment.
  • Effective communication with colleagues.
  • Visual acuity for inspecting work quality.
  • Mobility to navigate the facilities.
  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and holidays as needed.
