Job Description

Mammography Technologist

Department: Imaging

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce high-quality mammography images for interpretation.
  • Ensure patient safety by utilizing proper exposure and protective measures.
  • Educate and explain procedures to patients.
  • Follow departmental protocols for procedures unless otherwise specified by the Radiologist.
  • Obtain and document patient history and pertinent information.
  • Verify patient identification and demographics in the PACS system.
  • Communicate with attending Radiologists and verify provider orders.
  • Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care.
  • Prioritize and organize work assignments and adjust priorities based on changing business situations.
  • Operate medical imaging equipment properly and safely.
  • Demonstrate awareness of Radiation Safety Procedures for self and others.
  • Conduct routine quality control checks to ensure equipment is in acceptable condition.
  • Follow department protocols in the production of screening and diagnostic mammograms.
  • Comply with regulatory guidelines and perform QA/QC as mandated by ACR/MQSA.
  • Perform mammography procedures for needle localizations and stereotactic biopsies as required.
General Requirements:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and compliance of safety, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Be organized, self-motivated, and efficient while working well with others in a team setting.
  • Deliver compassionate patient care with satisfaction as a priority.
  • Adhere to ALARA principles while delivering quality, safe patient imaging at all times.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
  • Perform other job duties as required.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required.
Education, Certification, and Training Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies (ARRT) (R) required.
  • Advanced registry in Mammography (M) required.
  • Current NJ State Radiographer License in good standing.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • 2+ years' experience performing Mammography required.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with and utilization of an Electronic Medical Record System, RIS, and PACS System.
