Position Overview:

The Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for delivering high-quality cardiac ultrasound examinations that necessitate creativity, initiative, and independent decision-making. This role includes performing m-mode, two-dimensional cardiac ultrasound, Doppler color flow studies, stress echocardiograms, and assisting physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms while adhering to departmental policies and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertly conducts cardiac ultrasound diagnostic examinations.
  • Gathers patient medical history, clarifies standard procedures, and addresses patient inquiries to promote comfort and confidence, ensuring individual patient needs are met.
  • Operates and maintains all designated ultrasound equipment to guarantee optimal functionality.
  • Positions patients appropriately, selects suitable transducers and machine settings, and executes scanning procedures to accurately capture images as requested by physicians.
  • Completes quality assurance tasks and adheres to all relevant regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Alternatively, completion of a formal cardiac sonographer training program (1-4 years) with eligibility for registry and certification within one year.
  • Graduation from a diagnostic ultrasound training program (2-4 years) with one additional year of full-time clinical experience in a dedicated echocardiography lab, also registry eligible with certification within one year.
  • Two years of college focused on biological sciences, coupled with two years of experience in a dedicated echocardiography lab, registry eligible with certification within one year.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
