Position Summary

Geosyntec Consultants is seeking an Environmental Geoscientist to join our team. This role will enhance our capabilities in site assessment and remediation while engaging in innovative projects that involve subsurface exploration, development of conceptual site models, environmental evaluations, carbon capture initiatives, and groundwater management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage tasks and projects, including planning and executing investigation and remediation initiatives, budget oversight, adherence to timelines, quality assurance, client satisfaction, and profitability;
  • Develop geology-centric conceptual site models to facilitate remedial design;
  • Create static geological models utilizing petrophysical data for carbon capture applications;
  • Assist in the interpretation and analysis of diverse geological data, including boring logs, geophysical wireline logs, and surveys;
  • Support the management and analysis of geological, hydrogeological, and contaminant datasets;
  • Prepare technical documentation, including reports, letters, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Contribute to work plan development, data assessment, and report composition;
  • Conduct remedy evaluations, cost estimations, and support remedial implementation;
  • Mentor junior staff and oversee subcontractors;
  • Ensure compliance with contract schedules, relevant codes and regulations, and industry standards;
  • Engage in meetings with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders; and
  • Participate in business development, staff training, and mentoring initiatives, while occasionally conducting fieldwork, including environmental sampling and oversight of remediation systems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental science, or a related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same field. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (e.g., P.G.). (preferred)
Experience and Skills
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an environmental consulting setting or a comparable combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Proven track record in client development and management. (preferred)
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic consulting environment, managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and traveling as necessary. (required)
  • Proficiency in geological modeling and geostatistical analysis techniques and software. (preferred)
  • Expertise in geological interpretation techniques and best practices. (preferred)
  • Understanding of depositional environments for constructing complex geological models. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to carbon capture and environmental remediation. (preferred)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Access, including advanced formula writing and data visualization. (required)
  • Experience with scripting languages such as R, Python, SQL, or Matlab. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with web-based mapping applications. (preferred)
  • Ability to learn and utilize 3D modeling and visualization software (e.g., Petrel, Earth Volumetric Studio, Leapfrog3D). (preferred)
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork and travel overnight as required. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health and safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be necessary.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
