Industrial Coatings Specialist

Mid-State Industrial Maintenance is seeking a skilled Industrial Painter/Sandblaster to join our team.

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented individual to perform various tasks related to industrial painting and sandblasting. The right candidate will be responsible for setting up equipment, operating lifting devices, and removing old coatings from surfaces. They will also apply new coatings, inspect work, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

1. Set up portable equipment, such as ventilators, exhaust units, ladders, or scaffolding.
2. Operate lifting or moving devices to move equipment or materials to access areas to be painted.
3. Remove old coatings, grease, dirt, paint, or rust from surfaces in preparation for paint application.
4. Apply rust-resistant undercoats and caulk and seal seams.
5. Layout logos, symbols, or designs on painted surfaces, according to blueprint specifications.
6. Select paint according to company requirements and match paint colors, following specified color charts.
7. Pour paint into spray guns and adjust nozzles and paint mixes for proper paint flow and coating thickness.
8. Verify paint consistency, using a viscosity meter.
9. Spray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers and decorative or finish coatings.
10. Use brush to hand-paint areas in need of retouching or unreachable with a spray gun.
11. Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes.
12. Allow the sprayed product to dry and touch up any missed spots.
13. Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers or power equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths.
14. Clean equipment and work areas.
15. Dispose of hazardous waste in an appropriate manner.
16. Other duties as assigned.

• 1-year experience in Sandblasting and/or Industrial Painting a plus.

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary (Monday Sunday) and overtime is frequently required. Working environment is in an industrial shop; non-climate controlled and is oftentimes hot/humid. Frequent exposure to moving equipment, machines and shop tools, and other safety-sensitive hazards/risks. Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.
